DID YOU KNOW THAT THERE ARE MORE THAN 7,5 BILLION PEOPLE IN THE WORLD? AND THAT WE, ALL TOGETHER, DUMP A MASSIVE 2,12 BILLION TONS OF WASTE EVERY YEAR?

Flowco started, in 2015, at a coffee table in Coimbra, Portugal, with 4 architecture students discussing how they could make a difference in the world. Since then, we have embraced the cause of recover waste by creating new products with eco-friendly material and sustainable architecture.

We are now located in Porto, where we established our network that goes from thinkers, at universities and institutes, to doers, at major industrial factories. All together we have taken a big step in the circular economy by applying the latest methods of design thinking to produce new products from waste.

If you are a major industrial partner dealing with a waste problem, don’t waste your time! We are here to find you a solution!

Our solutions can be driven in two ways, by architecture our by design. Our products go from urban furniture to construct materials. For example, our first product was the Hendrix Chair, the a urban puff flexible made with groundbreaking recycled materials based on granulate rubber. The design of this product was rewarded with the Larus Design first prize and was exhibited in the Iberoamerican Design Biennial in Madrid. It also won an honourable mention in the competition Inov.Ação Valorpneu in the “Business & Innovation” category.

At the same time, we provide architecture as a service, not only to create new sustainable buildings, but also to improve the sustainability of old spaces by applying our materials and products with the most creative and user-friendly ideas. Between architecture and design, we also produce singular temporary installations, combining art and technology.

In 2019, FLOWCO goes forward with 4 new products with 4 different materials. Our association with investigation centers will allow us, over the next year, turn granulate rubber, paper, plastic, and textile into new eco-friendly materials. Each investigation coincides with a design for a new piece of furniture or construction material. For this project, we have as a major partner the Sociedade Ponto Verde, responsible for organizing and managing the recycle process of the waste in Portugal.

The purpose of this project is to test these 4 objects in a growing market. With our endless research of materials, construction methods and designs, we hope to attract more partners and investigation to our project.
